About the event
The 13th annual National Moth Week is July 20-28, 2024. Join us for an unforgettable evening of moth fun and awareness, hosted in partnership with Orange and Rockland Utilities, Inc. (ORU).
While popular butterflies tend to steal the spotlight, moths are a diverse and fascinating group of insects that are often overlooked. These unsung heroes come in a wide variety of colors and appearances and are crucial in pollinating plants, including flowers, vegetables, and fruits. There are over 160,000 species of moths worldwide!
Come discover the diversity and abundance of moths in your area and learn about their important role in our ecosystem. We will be capturing moths, identifying them, and learning about their unique characteristics and behaviors. You'll be amazed at the intricate patterns and colors of these fascinating creatures!
Each guest will receive a native meadow mixture seed package to take home.
This is a free family-friendly event open to all ages, but space is limited! Advance registration is required for entry and participation.
