About the event
Modular knitting uses small building blocks to construct an amazing variety of knit structures. We will explore a range of modular knitting techniques, then learn and practice the basics on a small project. There are many amazing modular knit patterns to work from to create beautiful textures and color combinations. Ages 10+. Children must be accompanied by an adult. We will provide project bag, patterns, needles, and yarns - but if you have odds and ends of yarn to use up, feel free to bring it along!
Light refreshments will be served.
Heather Sloan has been spinning for over 35 years and knitting for over 50. She found the curly locks of fleece beautiful and was fascinated everytime it got spun into gorgeous yarn. The process of taking fiber from the sheep’s back and transforming it into to a sweater on her back is thrilling. Heather started her own studio called Handknit Handwoven LLC where she sells beautifully crafted pieces. She also teaches knitting and spinning private lessons for those intrested in more advanced techniques. She loves knitting with her handspun and recently started incorporated weaving in her practice as well. In additon to all things fiber she also makes silver jewlery, speaks fluent French and is a marine geophysicist!
