Fondly referred to as “Mr. Chocolate,” Jacques Torres is the authority on all things related to this confectionery delight. He is from the South of France and was inspired to start a culinary career from an early age. After working for many years as a pastry chef at many of the finest restaurants, he developed a deep affinity and love for chocolate. Jacques was a pioneer in the bean-to-bar movement and was the first artisan chocolatier in New York City to start from cocoa beans and make his own chocolate. He is the owner of Jacques Torres Chocolate with three retail locations throughout New York City, has won numerous culinary awards (including The James Beard Pastry Chef of the Year Award), has authored three cookbooks, and hosted many television series over the course of his career. Jacques is currently the head judge on the Emmy-nominated Netflix baking competition show, “Nailed It!”
