Live from AOOA Farm: Miss Maybell & Her Ragtime Romeos

During this year’s Upstate Art Weekend, we are celebrating art in all its forms. Come on down to AOOA Farm to hear Miss Maybell & Her Ragtime Romeos, whose sound brings together the warmth and energy of early American jazz traditions—lively ragtime rhythms, blues, and vintage swing performed with a joyful, timeworn charm.

Set against the backdrop of the farm the music drifts across open fields and gardens, blending with birdsong, rustling grasses, and the quiet hum of the landscape. It’s an outdoor listening experience where sound and setting are intertwined.

The work of current and past AOOA Artists in Residence will be on display and available for purchase in the barn throughout the weekend, creating a vibrant dialogue between visual art, land, and sound. The weekend culminates in this lively plein air concert, bringing together community, creativity, and place in a shared outdoor experience.

Admission is pay what you will donation based and warmly welcomed. All proceeds go towards AOOA’s Fresh Food for All program, which combats food insecurity by supplying fresh, nutritious produce to our local food pantry. AOOA donates produce during the growing season (March to November) and pastured eggs throughout the winter, supporting the Florida Food Pantry year-round.

Space is limited please register in advance! All ages welcome. The cash bar will be open, and food will be available for purchase on-site. Don’t forget to BYOC—bring your own chair (and maybe an umbrella if you’d prefer some shade), and come ready to support what we sow locally through our artists in residence.

About the band:

Miss Maybell & Her Ragtime Romeos play a large repertoire of Early Jazz, Ragtime and Blues. They source their tunes from dusty old 78 records and antique sheet music, trying to give new life to songs created over 100 years ago! With this unique sound and dedication they were recently featured on The NPR Show “Person, Place, Thing” With Randy Cohen. Miss Maybell and her band have grown a large following in the North East playing legendary venues such as Birdland Theater. They have also earned an international following from performing regularly in Europe, recently headlining Sevilla Swing in Seville, Spain and selling out a week of shows at Marian's Jazz Room in Bern, Switzerland.
