About the event

Join us for a delightful summer afternoon of English country and Regency dancing set amidst the pastoral beauty of a working farm. Surrounded by wildflowers, warm sunshine, and the gentle sounds of rural life, you'll step into the grace and gaiety of a bygone era. Dance master Niel De Marino will guide you through elegant formations and lively reels, no experience or partner needed! Enjoy traditional music, and the simple joy of community gathering as it might have been on a country estate two centuries ago. Bring your dancing shoes, and a sense of adventure!

Light refreshments will be served, and there will be a break to order food and drinks. Space is limited, please register in advance!

Ages 15+

About the instructor: Niel V. De Marino began dancing at an early age, starting with classical dance study that led to a focus on Irish dance, which he later taught in New York City for many years. His love of history bloomed into being a Revolutionary War reenactor and living historian devoted to researching, preserving and demonstrating all aspects of 18th century life; open hearth cooking, period correct tailoring, dance, social graces & deportment to name a few.

In 2003, Niel co-founded “In Good Company,” a period-correct dance troupe that combined 18th-century and Regency dance styles with authentic reproduction clothing for performances at historic sites and venues. Niel appeared in the PBS films “John & Abigail Adams” and “Alexander Hamilton”, and he has danced in multiple Amherst Early Music Festival productions since 2007. Niel studied Baroque and 18th-century dance with Dorrie Olsson and Kaspar Mainz of New York Historical Dance, the Amherst Early Music Festival, and The New York Baroque Dance Company, later teaching the style at Art of Motion in Ridgewood, NJ.
