About the event

We all have textiles that are no longer useful, but hate the idea of throwing them away. Learn how to upcycle the ubiquitous fabric of denim at our Upcycled Denim Workshop! You will turn denim into beautiful flowers using both the raw edge wabi-sabi and beeswax coated methods. You will have the opportunity to make and take home several flowers which can be bundled into a bouquet, or worn as a decorative pin.

Denim will be provided, but if you want to bring your own, please do! Take your flowers and the skills you learned home and give that pile of old clothes a new life by turning it into something beautiful and neat.

Light refreshments will be served.

Space is limited, please register in advance!

About the instructor:

The daughter of a Mexican mother and American father, Robin Schweitzer grew up in the Bronx. After a successful 38-year career in the fashion industry, Robin founded the HOOP in New York City. Born out of her childhood summers in Mexico City stitching alongside her grandmother, mother, aunts and cousins, the HOOP serves as an untethered hangout of curious creatives to fastidiously learn stitching, fiber craft, and life lessons, too.
