Experienced Farm Team Member

About the Role

AOOA seeks an experienced farm team member who will work under the direction of the Farm Manager on all aspects of the farm, but with particular in either the market garden or the livestock operation.


We are seeking an enthusiastic, team-oriented individual to join AOOA for the 2026 growing season.  Ideal candidates have spent 3+ seasons working on a farm in crop production and/or livestock management.  Motivated, reliable, organized and hardworking people who are committed to developing their agricultural skills are a great fit with our team. Potential for growth into management role.


We grow vegetables, herbs, flowers and fruit, which we sell at our farmstand and which our kitchen staff turns into delicious meals served to the public throughout the season.  We host educational workshops, harvest-themed special events and Friday night happy hours with live music in order to spotlight what we’re making in our distillery from herbs, nuts and fruit grown on site.  2026 will be our seventh growing season. 

Compensation & Benefits
  • $22+/hr DOE, 40-45 hrs/wk, beginning in mid-March and running through the end of October. Option for a Tuesday-Saturday, or Sunday-Thursday schedule.  In season, we are open to the public Fri.-Sun.

  • Hours: 8:00 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in spring and fall, 7 a.m.-4:00 p.m. in summer.

  • Minimum 30 minute unpaid lunch; veggies and eggs from the farm; earned vacation days; federal holidays and sick days

  • There is the potential for winter work on a reduced schedule, if there is a mutual fit.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
  • Assist with crop production: tarp, turn, amend beds; seed, transplant, irrigate, weed, fertilize, harvest, manage pests.

  • Assist with orcharding: plant, weed, irrigate, mulch, prune/trellis, fertilize, manage pests and diseases, harvest, and propagate orchard trees.

  • Assist with livestock chores: feeding, watering, cleaning, fencing, rotating animal groups, collecting and washing eggs.

  • Lead volunteers in the safe performance of farm work.

  • Ensure proper care in the use and maintenance of equipment and supplies.

  • Promote continuous improvement of workplace organization, safety and environmental practices.

  • Perform additional job-related duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications
  • 3+ seasons of small scale annual crop production and/or livestock experience (sheep and laying hens preferred).

  • Positive attitude and solution-oriented.

  • Organized, values time-management.

  • Punctual, dependable, and able to communicate effectively around scheduling, learning needs, and any issue that affects the workplace and community.

  • Able to work independently and as part of a team.

  • Willingness to work outside in all weather conditions.

  • Able to lift up to 50 pounds repeatedly and perform physically demanding work that requires bending, kneeling and squatting.

  • Please note we do not offer housing and the farm is not readily accessible via public transportation.
