Robin Schweitzer joins AOOA to teach embroidery stitching and design. We will take a farm walk to forage for inspiration picking our own flower bouquets to bring home. We will then get comfy and all stitch together outside under the grape trellis. We will learn about basic embroidery stitches as well as more complex ones for those of us who love challenges. This is a modern sewing circle. Everyone is welcome and this isn't only about learning about the plants and even beneficial insects around us, but also about community and connecting with others!
We will host these stitching circles periodically. Each one has a different theme. August was smash and stitch which incorportated dying fabrics with flowers, September was all about botanical embroidery, and October is focused on beneficial insects (get ready to incorporate beads in your embrioderies of wacky insects!). Don't worry if bugs arent your thing... butterflies are welcome too!
Instructor Bio
The daughter of a Mexican mother and American father, Robin Schweitzer grew up in the Bronx. After a successful 38-year career in the fashion industry, Robin founded the HOOP in New York City. Born out of her childhood summers in Mexico City stitching alongside her grandmother, mother, aunts and cousins, the HOOP serves as an untethered hangout of curious creatives to fastidiously learn stitching, fiber craft, and life lessons, too.
